Are you sure you are saved?

Do you know beyond any doubt that you are going to heaven? Are you sure you are saved? If so, why?

Is it because you live a good life? Is it because you are a member of the true church? Is it because you have been baptised?

Perhaps we should ask, “Can we know for sure we are saved?” If so, how can we know it?

  1. God saved me when I confessed Christ as Lord. He continues to work his saving grace through me everyday. And he will ultimately save me when I enter heaven.

Do you believe a person can lose their salvation?

  2. Amen storbakken!

You are saved from the penalty of sin (past tense) You are being saved from the power of sin (sanctification) And you will be saved from the presense of sin (glorification).

Salvation and the strength of it is Chirst and His work on our behalf. Those who are truely sheep know the Shepherds voice and another they will not follow.

If one born can be unborn of his own will, one can loose his salvation. A careful reading of Romans 8 will show no possibility of one loosing his salvation.

On your blog you quoted one of many passages that teach God has given the Holy Spirit as His GUARENTEE of our eternal salvation. I completely trust His word on that matter.

  3. I am sure that I am saved because I am sure that God is powerful enough to do it and because I am sure that God has enough grace to make it happen. He is doing it in spite of me at times. But he is certainly going to make it happen and I can already see some of the results in my life. Thanks for the thoughts.

  4. I am loving these comments! Why does this sound so familiar? Lets see…..Oh, here it is, “Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness”.

Thanks to each of you for visiting Grace Digest and for your comments.

    Grace to you,

  5. There has been some great comments here and I agree, but I also know I am saved because the Holy Spirit convicts me of my sins and doesn’t let me just sit back and enjoy them.

No, they aren’t BIG BAD sins (as we like to scale sin from 1 to 10), but things I need to correct in my life just the same. He tells me things I am not doing that I need to do, and of the things I am doing that I need to stop doing.
